Porto Marghera, once a symbol of Italy's chemical industry, has now become a polluted industrial wasteland marked by decaying infrastructure and fragmented ecosystems. This design project proposes a 'regenerative framework' that does not shy away from this historical legacy, but instead integrates it into ecological processes, social activation, and site memory, creating a new urban district that serves both people and nature.
The image shows Porto Marghera’s industrial past fused with ecology. Circular modules link remediation zones, public areas, and art, while repurposed structures serve as platforms amid gardens and paths, blending renewal with memory.
The diagram shows the circularity hub at Porto Marghera: eight zones, from heritage plaza to water garden, interwoven as a continuous landscape. The project blends nature, history, and community, in a regenerative environment.
The sectional view of Porto Marghera’s circularity hub links eight gardens with heritage structures. A spiral walkway around an industrial tower connects waterfront, maze, woodland, and ruin-inspired gardens for public engagement with nature.
From above, a mosaic of gardens, corridors, and preserved industry greets arrivals to Venice, showcasing vibrant life and sustainable innovation even before landing.
The video narrates the site’s transformation from industrial brownfield to ecological landscape, shifting from sweeping aerial views to intimate moments within each garden.
